Stratus has extensive experience on the vertical transport system with various payloads ranging from single hard disk cassette weighing 2 lb to 60lb SCARA Robot with FOUP. Depending on the payload, stroke and safety requirement, three basic types of elevator systems are offered: ES Series: Heavy duty large payload elevator designed for FOUP, SMIF, Turntable, SCARA Robot or Linear/Rotary Robot Arm. Stroke is up to 16 feet. ESW Series: Mid to heavy duty long stroke version. Stroke of over 10 meter has been designed. ESH Series: Designed for light load up to 20lbs and speeds up to 0.8 meter/second. This is primarily used in hard disk manufacturer. The Elevator module functions just like a horizontal shuttle unit however to overcome gravity it generally needs larger motor, brake, counter weight and even secondary safety belt. Also because the travel stroke is typically longer than that of a shuttle unit, faster travel speed is required to achieve acceptable throughput. "Dual-Shield” system which practically shields all openings and prevents contaminants to escape. This reduces or eliminates the need for evacuation, which is usually necessity for linear motion system. This system is the primary building block used for TowerSCARA class 1 robot system.
Flexible embedded control system allows various speed profiles such as S-curve or twin trapezoid. The maximum speed of over 2 meter per second with multiple conveyor unit capacity makes it a very high throughput machine.
